Several hours after the events of "A New Beginning," Hastings, Nebraska
It was breathtaking.
Sidney Walker entered the house Trent had bought prior to their arrival. It certainly didn't look much, on the outside, appearing to be a summer cottage built sometime in the mid-20th Century. On the inside, however, was a plush interior up to date with the latest technology trends and stylings. The kitchen had a refrigerator and freezer stocked up with food, wall storage units that almost blended in and opened with but a press of the finger, an automatic dishwasher that could dry its dishes, and more.
There was a living room with two computers, a wall-mounted fifty-inch flatscreen that served as a near universal media device, and comfortable recliners, along with a plush couch with personalized comfort settings. A bathroom with a shower stall was linked to the bedroom, featuring a queen-sized bed and walk-in closet.
She hadn't been downstairs to the basement yet, but Trent had told her some things about it. Sidney remembered them lying together naked after they had made love, him holding her close with the tentacles, her smiling back at him in adoration. For most of the flight they were together like this, sharing thoughts between one another. It all felt like a dream, some vague memory that she couldn't recall, and Sidney felt like a portion of her was missing. She couldn't place her finger on it though.
She sighed, walking back into the living room, flopping down on the couch exhausted.
