A modified cruise ship headed toward Skull Island
Alexander Gennadi stood on the bow of the ship, he breathed deeply taking in the foreign scent of sea air, he hadn't been on the ocean before but was keen that once he had finished this expedition he would consider buying a yacht. Looking out over the sea he mind focused back on the mission at hand, the rediscovery of legendary Skull Island, the though sent a smile to his face, he felt young again.
Turning away he went to the stern of the ship, it had been completly rebuilt to form a container in which they hoped to capture the mighty Kong himself, not as a sideshow exhibit but for the betterment of all mankind. Kong would be the first of many kaiju who would be brought into the fold of protecting mankind from the wild and dangerous kaiju that roamed throughout the planet. Satified that everything was in check with the container he headed towards the ship's dinner hall where the rest of the ship's occupants were, dreaming of his Kong battling against Godzilla...
Once at the dinner hall he looked over the assembled crowd, they were the bravest, the smartest, drawn from across the world to help in this glorious expedition which would go down in history alongside man landing on the moon in its greatness. Kaiju expert's sat dining alongside sessioned explorers, feasting on the finest foods Gennadi could afford.
"No expense spared" he chuckled to himself
Taking a microphone from one of the attending servants the loudspeakers in the hall crackled into life.
"Sorry to interupt your meal but I have great news. We shall shortly be reaching the destination of Skull Island, the last untamed wildnerness known to mankind and you, you the finest of the fine who have answered my call, will be the first to set foot on that island in over a century."
The crowd applauded themselves, oblivious to the mist the ship was heading towards.

While everyone was clapping, the only sound coming from Mike Gibbous was that of his pencil scrapping his notebook. Many things had come to his attention, namely Zilla. The giant reptilian who had defended the Japanese city from Proutus, and yet lost miserably. He looked sideways for no true reason, then turned back to his noting.
After a few more minutes, the quick looked finally reached him and he looked back. The windo was slowly becoming a light gray color.
"The hell?"

At their table, Dr. Asaguri and his friends and pilot, Dave carver were looking over some Kaiju profiles in Dr. Asaguri's database. "Bahamut, Godzilla, Daegre, Fang, Drycep, Watcher, Gamera... there's so many, Doctor." dave said. Asaguri remained silent, thinking. he clicked the next butten a few times, flashing past Melba and Gurion and landing on Daisanamushi. then on proteus, and again on Qourdah. "there have been many kaiju, even hundreds over the years... never so many at once." he landed on Guiala. "and never so powerful..." Dave looked at the odd bird-like alien on the screen. "But why now, doc?" Asaguri simply shruged. if we knew why, we'd already be trying to fix it. and i'm in no rush to make them go away. a burden, yes. a danger, yes, but to a scientist such as myself... oh it's a golden age." Dave mearly shook his head. "One of these days, Doc... one of these days you're love for these things is gonna bite you in the ass." Asaguri gave him a half smirk and went back to his research. "Well. have fun Doc. i'm gonna do a bit of running around. plus i have to check in with Polar-01. i want to see the status of Guardian." "Give it time, you'll have your mecha soon enough, captain." the pilot nodded and left. Asaguri sighed. "Ah, to be young and reckless again... wait... i already am reckless." he shruged and went back to working.

Gennadi continued on with his speech until one of his aids came rushing into the dinner hall.
"One moment please" Gennadi called for the aid to come closer
"Sir we have a bit of a problem, the ships entering a dense fog and the captain isn't to happy about it" "But isn't the fog one of the things reported as a sign we're close to Skull Island?" "Yes sir but it seems to be interfering with all our navigation systems" "How?" "We don't know but pretty soon we'll be sailing blind" "Don't worry about it, it just means we're close" "But sir..." "We're prepared for this don't worry, I haven't spent a small fortune on this operation to be turned away by bad weather. Remind that captain just how much I'm paying him for this."
The aid turned away, unwilling to go against his bosses wishes and returned to the captain of the ship. Meanwhile Gennadi continued to give his good publicity speech, the fog growing all the more thicker...

Mike was now standing, looking out the window. It was now impossible to make out anything.

The radio on Dave's belt crackled to life ..."Requesting aid of any available G-force Anti-kaiju Mecha units." there was static for a moment. "Mayday Damnit! i need help!" the radio went dead. Dave listened to the silence for a couple more minutes. he sprinted back to Asaguri's table. "Doctor. i just received a distress call from an allied mecha pilot." Asaguri nodded. "Go. i'll be fine here." Dave saluted him and ran for the edge of the ship. he dove over the edge and dissappeared. several seconds later, the mechanical wings that link him to his mecha, the Guardian, ripped through his jacket and cought him in the air. he galve a last look at the boat and several scientists and soldiers waved him off. he saluted back and kicked the thrusters into top speed towards polar-01.

Michael Cortez, flanked by four of his personal bodyguards stood at at his table near the closest to Gennadi. Raising his voice so he could be heard across the dining room without sounding like he meant to "Gennadi you don't need to act as if we're being given a tour of a zoo, we all know why we're here and I doubt very many of us think that this expedition will be cozy. What I am curious about is what useful information can you tell us about the islands inhabitants aside from what we already know?"

Gennadi forced a smile, being interrupted like this usually meant someone in PR was going to get a headache. Gennadi clapped his hands and the lights dimmed and a large screen appeared on the wall behind him.
"Cortez, straight to the point as always. We'll as we all know an expedition to Skull Island occurred in the early part of the 20th century, finding a world of prehistoric monsters that had evolved over the years into even more dangerous beasts. Until recently we all thought Skull Island had sunk beneath the waves, of course this turns out to not have happened, otherwise we wouldn't be on this ship right now."
The screen began to display several images from orbit of the island and then various images of the inhabitants of Skull Island, at first they were sketches from the original expedition and then more modern pictures.
"I had sent a reckon team to go in as soon as we discovered Skull Island had survived to this day, they gathered a lot of information on the various animals all of which will be made available to you but most of it is the usual knowledge that is already available. However the most remarkable was this."
The screen displayed a picture of King Kong
"This is concrete proof that the legendary King Kong does indeed exist and is thriving on the island. Now as we all know, our world is under constant threat from kaiju attack and Kong here represents and opportunity to combat that threat. We know that Kong is an intelligent beast, with our modern science he can be trained to defend humanity. "

Cortez chuckled at Gennadi's final statement, "Trained to defend humanity? You can't believe a giant ape will be an effective tool when compared to the machines we use today such as the ones I produce? I'd be surprised to see some government fund the project vs. buying battle ready war machines that won't get distracted by the nearest bannana. Whatever you plan on doing with the ape I'm sure you'll find a way to make a profit, but I'm here to see whether the island itself is worth investing in. Keeping company designs secret are difficult in this day and age, but having an island that is as hidden as this one could prove a nice place to build a facility. Providing that we can get Kong off of it in the first place."

(OOC: Uh, sirrush, I hope you know that Kong never left Skull Island. That would mean no NYC incident or anything like that.)

Michael glanced at Cortez, listening to the conversation.
"I would like to remind you, that all of your 'war machines,' have their limits. Kaiju are biological, meaning that they have abillities that mecha simply can not beat. I will, however, stay out of this debate. I have come here to study the island and its beasts."
