Melba was still infuriated, but had an interesting choice before it.
Standing - and hovering - in the midst of its territory were these two fierce, powerful kaiju, both posing a considerable threat to Melba's well-being and generally running amok. They were also now embroiled in a fight against each other, rather than joining forces to drive it away, or worse. This left Melba as the deciding factor in this skirmish, in the position to ally (even if temporarily) with one of the kaiju to defeat the other. Decisions, decisions.
Red King had been the primary instigator, and was the one to actually inflict damage against Melba. Watcher's existence underneath Easter Island, the center of Melba's territory, was disturbing. His mental cry was threatening but ultimately pointless against Melba, and all his fighting was with Red King for now. However, he also brought a greater number of unknown factors to the conflict.
Melba's inability to make a choice was irritating. Screeching its frustration, Melba instead landed fully into the beach and planted its claws against the sand. It would let the two kaiju sort it out for another minute or two, to see if something would tip the balance of the fight and encourage Melba to choose a side. Melba stifled a yawn, finally remembering that its slumber was being interrupted by all of this.

The beams struck Red King's chest, burning his flesh. He didn't notice the pain as his adrenaline and testosterone levels skyrocketed. He charged the central stalk and began to pummel it with a combination of punches and kicks.

Watcher turned his central eye away from the physical assult to protect it. he picked Red king up with several dozen tenticals and thought for a moment. he threw red king and his eyestalks glowed red. then thousands of small red orbs shot towards Red King, stopping just in front of him in, forming a dome.
[glow=red,2,300]YOU CANNOT... ESCAPE... MY... OPTIC FIRE-PRISON...[/glow]
his telepathic voice sounded. it crackled with sadistic excitement that was just barely held in check.

If Melba's eyes had pupils, and if the gesture held any meaning to it, they would be rolling into the back of its skull at Watcher's commentary. Still, nothing convinced it enough to make a choice, so Melba remained idle, but anxious to see the next outcome.

Red King bellowed in frustration. For once the first time in his life, he flet that maybe, just maybe, he was out of his league. Opening his mouth, he fired at the orbs, hoping to destroy some of them.

the orb exploded. Watcher flung the rest of the orbs at Red King, focusing in on him with thousands of small explosions. in the confusion, he melted down into the ground again. moments later, several (20-30) rock hard tenticals broke through the ground under and around Red King, forming a forrest of spikes.

A massive electric bolt shot through that forest of spikes, making room for Red King to slam and kick his way out of Watcher's prison. Finally choosing to side with Red King, Melba took to the air and circled the island, gathering speed and more energy before sending another beam of electricity into the ground from which the tentacles had emerged, hoping to strike Watcher in the process. This one doesn't play fair, too cowardly to show his fa... err, eyes.

Michael had finished his notes on all three kaiju, recorded the power's seen from the new "Watcher" and loaded up his boat before heading out. He was done here, indeed this would be of interest to fellow kaijuologists.

Red King gave an appreciative nod to Melba before smashing his way out of the spikes and charging the central eyestalk once more, he was now thoroughly pissed. Grabbing a massive moai statue along the way and hurling it at the eye whilst spitting energy balls at the base of the eyestalk.

Watcher quickly formed up a wall of tenticles and the statue broke against them. he wasn't quick enough to counter the energy orbs, though, and they exploded into his main mass of tenticles. Watcher reeled in his own pain. it was something he hadn't felt in a long time. sever of the tenticals and eyestalsk went limp, having been severed from the main mass. Watcher retracted a couple more of the tenticals, and the bleeding stipped as the wound appeared to close up. Watcher looked from one kaiju to the next. Red king didn't look too worse for the ware and Melba had only just begun to fight.
[glow=red,2,300]SO LONG... FELT PAIN... KILL... WEAKER... GROW STRONGER... MEET... AGAIN... DIE...[/glow]
Watcher 's broken telepathic speech rasped into their heads. Watcher was wounded, but not badly. he knew he was outmatched in this moment though, and dissolved into the ground, leaving behind the severed tenticals.

Melba crowed in victory, landing onto the severed tentacles with great prejudice and zapping others into a charred, bloodied mess. A smell not unlike a kaiju-sized barbecue flooded Melba's senses, but it couldn't bring itself to try Watcher's flesh even if it was starving.
With that intruder out of the way, Melba was left alone (humans never counted) with Red King. What to do with you, now? Red King hadn't been useless in battle, and Melba was still tired from its interrupted rest. Melba only made a half-hearted gesture to drive Red King away, his wings extended and flapping and its large claws bared, just enough to make its point. You've earned a spot here, but stay away from my part of the island. It turned its back to the other kaiju and lumbered back to the nest to get some sleep.

Red King's eternal rage quieted at that moment. for the first time in his life he felt something other than bloodlust, anger, hate, or vengence. He felt....gratitude. Melba had helped him, saved him when others would have been content to see him die. He roared at Melba, but there was no agression in the bellow, he wanted only to get the other kaiju's attention. The, in his language, his spoke to Melba.
"You saved me when you could have let me die. No one has done that before. You have earned my respect. All my life I have only felt a need to destroy, to conquer. Your actions have changed my attitude, at least to you anyway. You are the first creature I have encountered that I would like to call....friend. I shall now leave this island."
With that, Red King turned around and entered the cool waters of the Pacific.

Melba turned at Red King's call for attention, surprised at the other kaiju's words. Melba didn't understand all of it perfectly, but it understood enough. Having an ally on this strange world could prove to be very useful. "Thank you... friend." Melba let out an appreciative squawk, but resumed its journey back to its nest.
Gathering together the large scraps of metal and wrecked ships used to build the nest, Melba resumed its disturbed slumber. The monster drifted back into its calm state and left the island's residents to take care of the rest.
------------
Melba's slumber lasted for several days, while the world around it was changing drastically. The dawn of the new Kaiju Wars had finally come, and with it massive powers that could come to threaten Melba's own existence on its adoptive planet. New, stronger kaiju unlike the simple mindless beasts Melba had killed before were emerging or arriving from the stars, and humanity would slowly end up working itself into a frenzy to combat such threats.
Meanwhile, the devastation to the island from the Red King-Watcher fight was significant. The CLA was finally reaching the conclusion that Easter Island's time as a habitable place was over. As much restoration as could be helped was already underway, some of the moai even being moved to the mainland, but the towns were shrinking in size. More than ever, this place was becoming Melba's home exclusively.
When Melba finally awoke, it heard only a few sounds from the humans, and as usual, ignored them. Its wings streched to their full span, absorbing the sun's rays. Melba hadn't decided what it would do next, but it wanted to see more of this world now, and establish its place in it.
Melba took to the skies, headed for destinations unknown.
