"It's alright." Trent responded with a smile. "I'll take making you dinner as compensation."

"Thats fine."
Sidney layed down on her bed and turned on the television. Trent's rescue of her had made it clear that he was not about to get out of her life yet, and so Sidney decided to let go and roll with it, just like she did everything else. She still disliked the notion of his courtesy, but humored him for now. Considering he had saved her life, afterall.

"Heh.. and dinner won't be for another ten hours." Trent looked to Sidney.
"What would you like to do until then?"

"What do you mean 'do'? I've already done everything I need to do except sleep and watch TV."

"Well, have you eaten breakfast yet?" Trent was already setting a frying pan on the stove.

"No," she replied bluntly.

"Bacon and eggs then. I'll get some from my room." Trent set the stove to begin heating the pan as he walked out of the room momentarily.

"Fine." Sidney looked back to the television and watched the morning news on a local channel.

Trent came back and prepared breakfast. After a while, he was done, and he sat on the bed beside Sidney, passing her a plate and silverware.

She took them silently, with nary a thanks, and began to eat. The news continued to blare on about various political and social issues, and as this aired Sidney scowled at it. News to her was just mindless blabbering about stuff that had nothing to do with her horrible life, and she hated this as much.

Trent picked up the remote.
"I hear enough of this..." He uttered, as he started flipping through channels.

She had no objection.
As early as it was, there really was nothing on that was of much worth to see. Old b-films from five years ago, the seemingly undying "Days of Our Lives" soap opera, and televangelists dominated the programming, saying nothing about interactive VR infomercials that doubled as the present's version of now defunct telemarketers. Sidney's scowl never left her face.

After a while, Trent turned off the television.
"Well.. that's enough of that. How's the food?"

"Its good." Sidney didn't sound convincing.

"That didn't sound convincing." Trent smiled.
